Barbara L. (Richards) Smith

Barbara Louise Smith, 86, of Bloomington formerly of Linton, Indiana, entered in to the arms of her Savior June 2, 2017. She was born in Sullivan, Indiana on December 23, 1930 to Guy and Ella Rae (Cobb) Richards. Barbara was united in marriage to James A. Smith on June 22, 1948 and they were blessed with three children.

Barbara owned Smith Floor Coverings with her husband for 26 years. She had worked and enjoyed her plants with the Smith’s Plant Farm for several years prior to that. She was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Bloomington. Barbara enjoyed crocheting baby afghans and making 1000’s of “scrubbies” for everyone. They were sent all over the world for Christian missions.

Survivors include, her son, Dick (Cindy) Smith of Hymera; a daughter, Candy (David) Wigington of Avon; a son Marshall (Sharman) Smith of Linton; five grandchildren, Mandy (Erik) Cooper, Rick (Jenny) Smith, David (Shana) Wigington, Justin (Tami) Smith, Kali (Mike) Soberski, seven great-grandchildren and five nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James A. Smith and brother, Dave Richards.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 6th, 2017 at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 2655 S Adams St. Bloomington with Pastor David M. Wigington officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Fairview Cemetery in Linton following her funeral service.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, June 5th, 2017 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the church.

The family has entrusted Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel with these arrangements.
