Betty Lou (May) West

Betty Lou West, 85, of Linton, IN, passed from this life on Saturday, June 10, 2017. She was born on July 17, 1931 in Greene County, IN to Ralph and Geneva (Hair) May. She married John N. “Jim” West on December 26, 1948.

Betty was a member of the Linton Church of Christ and a renowned florist.  She owned and operated May’s Flower Shop of Linton for over 50 years and retired in 2002. Betty was an avid reader and truly enjoyed the adventure of cruises and gambling outings with her girls.

Survivors include her son, Terry (Kathie) West of Indianapolis; her daughter, Sherri  (Paul) DeJong of Peidmont, AL; and her granddaughter, Dr. Marci Gaither of Pittsburgh, PA; special family friend, Jill Hancock; and several nieces & nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John N. “Jim” West, and a daughter, Carol Brinson (2/17/2010).

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel, in Linton, Indiana. Betty will be laid to rest in the Linton Fairview Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, June 12, 2017, and on Tuesday, June 13th from 10:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
