Donald Rex Cooksey

Donald Rex Cooksey, 73, of Dugger, Indiana, passed away, surrounded by his loving family in his home, on Thursday, July 20, 2017, following a long illness. He was born on April 10, 1944 in Greene County, Indiana to Carl and Margaret (Booker) Cooksey. He married his loving wife, Nancy (Moore) Cooksey on July 18, 1964.

Don was a retired lineman from IBEW with 50 years of service. He enjoyed anything and everything classic cars and spending time working in his garage. Don loved children especially time spent with his grandkids. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Cooksey of Dugger; three sons, Darin (Patty) Cooksey of Ellettsville, IN, Brad Cooksey and Chase Cooksey of Dugger; one daughter, Katie Cooksey of Dugger; grandchildren, Jarod, Devin, Jonathan, Lauren, Kylie, Cooper, Mia, Nolan, Brock and Brandon; one sister, Phylis (the late Ed) Martindale of Sullivan; special friend, Dave Mowry of Sullivan; several nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carolyn Flath.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Dugger with Pastor Nick Moore officiating. Honoring Don’s wishes, there will be no public visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of the funeral home, to help with final expenses.
