Joan Sheridan, 78, of Carlisle, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Sullivan, Indiana, on Sunday, July 17, 2016. She was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 10, 1937 to George and Ernestine (Wathen) Pfeffer. Joan married the love of her life, Philip Sheridan on May 9, 1964.

Joan was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Altar Society, CRHP, Young Catholic Adults and Young Catholic Workers. She had attended St. Benedict and St. Joseph Catholic Churches in Evansville in her younger years. Joan was a graduate of Mater Dei High School Class of 1956 and Lockyear Business College in Evansville where she received an AS degree in Business. She was a past member of VFW Post # 2839 Ladies’ Auxiliary and had worked as a secretary at Southam Jewelry at Union Station in Indianapolis. Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include: two daughters, Katherine (Tim) Medley of Carlisle and Margaret Kristler of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald (Mary) Pfeffer of Tennessee; two sisters, Susan Pfeffer of Longview, TX and Shannon (John) Nelson of Evansville.

Joan was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Philip Sheridan and her infant twin sister, Shirley Ann.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 22, 2016, at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Linton with Rev. Joseph F. Erbacher officiating.  Joan will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Family and friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 21 and from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Friday, July 22. A Rosary Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Joan to Spiritual Bouquet through the St. Peter Catholic Church.
