Phyllis M. (Vaughn) Hardesty, 74, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in Greenfield, Indiana. She was born on November 21, 1941 in Linton, Indiana to Everett and Alice (Hamilton) Vaughn. She married her loving husband, Leslie ‘Ray’ Hardesty on August 30, 1958.
Phyllis was a homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed taking care of her home and family. Her hobbies included reading, cooking and working puzzles.
Survivors include: her husband, Ray Hardesty of Linton; one son, Vertis (Charlotte) Hardesty of Linton; one daughter, Jada Haldeman (Stephen Shaver) of Greenfield; two grandsons, Chris (Rachel) Hardesty of Worthington and Nathan (Nicole) Hardesty of Cincinnati, OH; six great-grandchildren, Questyn, Lillian, Adilynn, Lucas, Lydia and Levi.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with her grandson, Nathan Hardesty officiating. Phyllis will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 8 and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Phyllis. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
