Richard Lon ‘Dick’ Stamm, 82, of Linton, Indiana, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, May 14, 2017. He was born on March 12, 1935 in Daviess County, Indiana to Andrew J. and Mattie (Drexler) Stamm.
Dick was a veteran of the US Army, a member of Elks BPOE #866 and the American Legion Post #479 of Lyons. He retired in 1997 with 41 years of service with the Indiana Department of Transportation. He also farmed since childhood.
Survivors include: one son, Mike (Kerrie) Stamm of Linton; five daughters, Brenda (Kevin) Sermersheim of Mooresville, IN, Deborah (Chris) Pruett of Linton; Madina (Nick) Okruch of Louisville, KY, Julina Ellett of Linton and Malinda (Curtis) Tuttle of Fountain Hills, AZ; step-son, Keith (Cindy) Messick of Francisco, IN; four grandsons, Nathaniel Sermersheim, Matthew Okruch, Andrew Okruch and Grant Stamm; three granddaughters, Rachael Pruett, Rebecca (Sermersheim) Bogardus and Abbey Stamm; one step-granddaughter, Danielle (Messick) Reisinger; one great-granddaughter; two step-great-granddaughters; one step-great-grandson and friend, Beverly Stamm.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, five sisters and one great-grandson.
Funeral services are scheduled for 5:00 PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Kenneth Adams and Rev. Richard Renfrow officiating. Dick will be laid to rest in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Lyons followed by military graveside rites by the American Legion Post #479.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 PM until the time of service at 5:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Legion Post #479. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
