Eugene W. Martin

Eugene W. ‘Tootsie’ Martin, 76, of Linton, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017, surrounded by his family at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born on September 19, 1940 in Linton to Eugene ‘Abie’ and Wilma ‘Billie’ (Lee) Martin.  

Eugene was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church, Switz City Masonic Lodge #676 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Linton BPO Elks #866, Greene County and Zorah Shrine. He owned Martin Accounting and was a Public Accountant with 57 years of service. Tootsie was very involved in the Linton-Stockton High School, serving as a school board member from 1998-2002. He was the driving force in helping build the indoor training facility and weight room.

Survivors include: one son, Dennis Martin of Linton; two daughters, Stacey (Tim) Martin Huse of Louisville, KY and Summer (Kevin) Martin Jerrell of Linton; his mother, Billie Martin of Linton; five grandchildren, Zachary, Harrison, Jackson, Dreydon and Shanae.

Eugene was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Kenny Adams officiating. Eugene will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, April 7 and from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greene County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
