Glen Apple Obituary

Glen G. Apple, 87, of Sandborn, Indiana, passed away peacefully, on Friday, November 15, 2019 at Parkview Christian Assisted Living in Odon. He was born in Sandborn, Indiana on January 6, 1932 to Ralph B. and Thelma Pauline (McKean) Apple. Glen married Virginia D. (Arnold) Apple on November 27, 1955 and after her passing, he married Enid Rose (Trent) Martin Apple on January 26, 2013.

Glen was US Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Sandborn Christian Church, where he served as an Elder, Elnora Masonic Lodge #616 F & AM, AASR Valley of Evansville, Zorah Shrine of Terre Haute, OES Odon Chapter #341, Sandborn Volunteer Fire Department and Knox County Soil and Water Conservation. Glen spent his life farming until he retired in 2013. He served on the Board of Directors of the American National Bank for 16 years, the Federal Land Bank Board of Directors for 6 years and on the Advisory Council on Agriculture of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago for 2 years. Glen was an honorary member of the FFA in Clay City.

Family left to cherish the memory of Glen includes: one daughter, Cindy (Mark) Malone of Bruceville; two grandchildren, Josh (Jenny) Anthis of Sandborn and Jamie (Cain) Bond of Oaktown; step-granddaughter, Jessi (Keith) Parker of Bicknell; five great-grandchildren, Lillian, Austin, Tony, Mason and Wyatt; step-grandson, Kyson and one brother, Robert N. Apple of Phoenix, AZ.

Glen was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Virginia D. Apple and his second wife, Rose Martin Apple.

The Elnora Masonic Lodge #616 F & AM will hold a Masonic Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2019 followed by a funeral service to honor the life of Glen with Bryan Sanders officiating, all at the Sandborn Christian Church. Glen will be laid to rest in Sandborn Cemetery following military graveside rites.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, November 20 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the church.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Glen Apple Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.
