Hobert E. ‘Hobe’ Tannehill, 95, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Linton Nursing and Rehab. He was born in Carrier Mills, Illinois on December 22, 1922 to Elmer Earl and Martha Bell (Neader) Tannehill. He married, Imola V. ‘Moki’ (Terhune) Tannehill on June 5, 1948.
Hobe was a veteran of the US Navy, served in WWII and was the recipient of 8 Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Living Word Church in New Port Richey, Florida, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and was a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge #560 F&AM. Hobe retired from public service at Crane NWSC in December 1977.
Survivors include: his wife, Moki Tannehill; special family friend, Peggy Hildebrand; sister, Doris Alderson of Bloomington; several nieces and nephews.
Hobe was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Charles Tannehill and one sister, Helen Wright.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Pastor Darren McDonald officiating. Hobe will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton, following military graveside rites by American Legion Post #22.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home. A Masonic memorial service is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Monday.
