James W. Meng, 68, of Sullivan and formerly of Linton, died on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 at his residence.
Born Nov. 24, 1937, he was the son of Edgar and Iva (Clark) Meng.
He worked as a plumber for Williams Plumbing and Heating and the Plumbers & Steam Fitters Union Local No.157 of Terre Haute, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Souls Harbor Church of Jesus Christ in Shelburn and the Master Gardeners of both Greene and Sullivan counties.
Survivors include, his mother, Iva (Clark) Meng of Sullivan; former wife and friend, R. Yvonne (Williams) Meng; a son, James W. Jr. and wife Bette Meng, of Linton; two daughters, Marcy L. and husband, Terry Stephens, of Vincennes and Tamra S. Meng and partner, Cindy Robinson, of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Jenna and husband, Nathan Brown, Bryant Meng, Brock and Kelsey Stephens; great-granddaughter, Neely Brown; two brothers, Eugene "Gene" and wife, Josephine Meng of Merom, and William "Bill" and wife Judy Meng, of Terre Haute; and two sisters, Carolyn Maxey, of Sullivan, and Patricia Christison, of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Meng.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Anderson-Poindexter Dugger Chapel with pastors Bruce Campbell and Darren Thrasher officiating. Burial will follow at the Carlisle IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
