Marvin D. Long, 75, of Inverness, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in Florida. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on April 8, 1942 to Paul and Pauline (Salesman) Long. Marvin married his loving wife, Lida Ruth (Holmes) Long on August 30, 1991.
Marvin was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Union Carpenters Local #60 in Indianapolis and American Motorcycle Association. He was a retired carpenter. Marvin was an avid motorcycle racer and loved fishing.
Survivors include: his wife, Lida Ruth Long of Inverness, FL; two sons, Bryon Long of Screven, GA and Kyle (Sherry) Long of Clayton, IN; one daughter, Gayle Davis of Plainfield, IN; nine grandchildren, Kevin Wilson, Nathan Wilson, Samantha Teppenpaw, Deanna Long, Erin Long, Tom (Courtney) Brown, Stephanie Brown, Elliot Brown and Tony (Perla) Brown; four great-grandchildren; two step-sons, Chad (Laura) Brown of Plainfield and Greg (Bonnie) Brown of Pensacola, FL; one brother, Melvin Long of Spencer, IN and one sister, Ellen Woods of Indianapolis.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Gladys Long.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Peavey Cemetery in Jasonville.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton.
