Mary E. (Anderson) Wolfe

Mary E. Wolfe, age 100, passed away at Providence Residential Home in New Albany, Indiana on Sunday, March 19, 2017. She was born in Jasonville, Indiana on February 18, 1917 to Job C. and Essie (McCammon) Anderson.

Mary moved to Linton when she was 2 years old. She graduated from Linton High School in 1935 and then attended both Purdue and Indiana University before working for L.S. Ayres in Indianapolis. On May 14, 1940, she married Rennis G. Wolfe and they resided in Linton. She remained there following his death in 1994 until 2008 when she moved to the nursing facility in New Albany. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed travel, mystery books, was an excellent seamstress, and helped design and build several floats for the Linton Independence Day Parades. She and her husband were loyal IU Basketball fans for many years and both were interested in Linton history.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Wolfe of New Albany and two nephews, J. Roger Alvis of Midway Park, NC and Richard Anderson of Vernon, IN.

Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Rennis G. Wolfe; one sister, Vera Busselle and one brother, Job W. Anderson.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with Nyle Riegle officiating.
