Naomi K. (Yates) Harris, a resident of Tucson, Arizona passed away peacefully on January 3, 2019 at her home surrounded by family and friends at age 101. She married the love of her life, George Harris after he returned from World War II and enjoyed 50 years of marriage until his death in 1995.
Born in Marion, Kentucky before women could vote, Naomi graduated Lockyear’s Business College and dedicated a 20-year career with Indiana Bell in Evansville, Indiana. She gave up her career and dedicated the rest of her life to raising and loving their only son, George. Naomi was a lifelong member of the Methodist Temple Church. She loved socializing with friends and family and her caring smile could light up any room. She could always be counted on to bring a room to tears with her clever jokes and stories of growing up in a small town. She received many years of loving care from her dedicated care-givers Magdalena, Beverly and Dyva, who were her greatest comfort in her final years. “We will always carry your memory in our hearts.”
Naomi is survived by her son, George and his husband, Marco of Tucson, Arizona; nieces, Norma Stogner, and Sharon Buckner, of Arizona; and George (Julia) Skeel and Barbara Myers of Indiana.
