Rita R. Powell

Rita R. Powell, 70, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2019 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. She was born on April 4, 1949 in Greene County, Indiana to Robert and Margaret (Hale) Ball. Rita married the love of her life, L. John Powell on December 22, 1968.

Rita was a Deli Manager at Bloomfield IGA, retiring in 2008 with 20 years of service. She graduated in 1968 from Linton-Stockton High School. Rita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Family left to cherish the memory of Rita includes: her husband, John Powell of Linton; one son, John Douglas (Cheryl Coulter) Powell of Linton; one daughter, Sherry (Romeo) Perkins of Palmetto, FL; five grandchildren, Levi Powell, Breely Carpenter, Ashtynn Powell, Carsyn Carpenter, Ayla Powell; one brother, Larry Ball of Linton and one sister, Patricia George of Palmetto, FL.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents and one infant grandson, Logan Powell.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with David Ball officiating. Rita will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday May 20, 2019 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
