Virginia M. Stremming, 93, of Sandborn, Indiana, went to Heaven to meet her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Washington, Indiana. She was born on March 31, 1926 in Emison, Indiana to Mearl R. and Golda Mae (Wittenmyer) Clifford. Virginia was married to the love of her life, her husband of 70 years, Orvel L. Stremming on November 24, 1945.
Virginia was a member of the Parkview Christian Church in Plainville and a 50 year member of the Newberry Order of Eastern Star Chapter #198. She was a homemaker and raised her children and helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enjoying spending time with them and instilling in them a love for God and others. Virginia loved genealogy and sharing with others. She enjoyed farm chores, canning, gardening, sewing and embroidering up to the age of 93.
Family left to cherish Virginia’s memory include: two daughters, Charlene Stremming of Sandborn and Marlene (Robert) Mattingly of Washington; daughter-in-law, Linda Stremming of Texas; grandchildren, Iris (Danny) Overman of Bloomfield, Ilene Casner and Lee Stremming of Linton and Ginny (Bill) Gayso of Texas; great-grandchildren, Michael L. and Brayden Stremming. LeeAnna (Jordan) Harris, Lindsey (Jesse) Bobo, Daniel Casner, Dylan Cunningham, Eric and Blaine Gayso, and Katelin (Jarrid) Britton; great-great-grandchildren, Nichola Harris, Adrian Feutz, Effe Stremming, Gabriel Bobo, Anthony Jeffrey Britton and Elizabeth Harris.
Virginia was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Orvel Stremming; one son, Mearl E. Stremming; brothers, Ralph, Glenn, Harold, Wayne, and Donald Clifford; sisters, Betty Walters, Shirley J. Holland and Vera Wall.
A funeral service to honor the life of Virginia will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Parkview Christian Church in Plainville with Pastor Alfred Helms officiating. Virginia will be laid to rest in Stafford Cemetery in Sandborn.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 12 at Meng Family Funeral Homes, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton and from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Monday, at the church. There will be an Order of Eastern Star Memorial service at 7:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkview Christian Church in memory of Virginia. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
