Obituary

Alfred A. Dailey, 83, of Linton, IN, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born in Greene County, IN, on October 12, 1926, the son of Owen L. and Nellie (Kates) Dailey. Alfred married Marilyn J. Goodman on December 25, 1953.

During WW II, Alfred served in the US Navy as a Fireman First Class. Upon discharge from the Navy, he worked as a welder for Peabody Coal Company for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the UMWA (United Mine Workers of America) District 11.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Dailey; son, Dan Dailey and wife Gayla (Vorek), and daughter, Diana Daily; granddaughters, Kalynn L. and Kamryn L. Dailey, all of Linton; two brothers: Ralph (Margaret) Dailey of Worthington, and Kenneth (Moya) Dailey of Linton; three sisters: Lucille Jacobs of Indianapolis, Norma (Ernest) Nolting and Linda (Bill) Haseman both of Linton. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Leta P. Allen.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, IN, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, prior to the service at 12:30 PM.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 12:30 PM, with Rev. Kenneth Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN.
