Alma Wilhelmina (Stremming) Blackwell, 90, of Odon, IN, and formerly of Sandborn, IN, passed from this life on Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Daviess County Community Hospital in Washington. She was born on March 3, 1925, in Knox County, IN, to Edward H "Duke" and Pearl (Hagemeier) Stremming. She married George E. "Eddie" Blackwell, who preceded her in death.
Wilhelmine had worked at RCA in Bloomington and Hamilton Glass in Vincennes. She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia. Wilhelmine truly enjoyed both family and cooking and it was with great pride and love that she spent hours preparing delicious meals for family gatherings.
Survivors include: two grandchildren, Christina (Robert) Doolin of Washington and Rebecca (Jeffrey) Wininger of Sandborn; 4 great-grandchildren: Kenneth DeMotte, Ariel DeMotte, Robert J. Doolin, and Christoper Doolin, all of Washington; 3 step-great grandchildren: David, Dereck, and Dillion Wininger; 6 step great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Senora (Glen) Roark of Wheatland, IN, and a niece/care-giver, Phyllis Holscher.
Family members who precede in death are: her parents, a daughter, Loretta Ann (Blackwell) Brown, a sister, Ruth Roark, and two brothers, Roy Stremming & Orvel Stremming.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at the Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia with Rev. Bryan Taylor officiating. Wilhelmina will be laid to rest in Salem UCC Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Salem UCC Church from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service on Wednesday.
