Alta Mae Hobbs, 89, of Sullivan, IN passed away Friday, November 7, 2008 at her residence. She was born on December 22, 1918 in Sullivan Co., IN to Homer and Anna (Ault) McKain. She married Urvel D. 'Dimp' Hobbs on February 22, 1936.

Alta was a homemaker and was a member of New Beginnings Worship Center in Sullivan.

Survivors include her daughter; Phyllis (Howard) Burt of Danville, son; Jack (Sharon) Hobbs of Watchung, NJ, son; Michael (Pam) Hobbs of Melborne, FL, daughter; Brenda (Dan) Cox of Warsaw, IN, son; Dennis (Linda) Hobbs of Hobart, IN, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Hazel Jordan of Sullivan.

Alta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dimp Hobbs on Aug. 9, 2002, one son David Hobbs, one grandson Jason Hobbs, four brothers and two sisters.

The family has requested contributions be made to New Beginnings Worship Center in Sullivan. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Friends may call at New Beginnings Worship Center, 54 N. Beasley St., Sullivan, (one block N of East Washington St.) Monday, November 10, 2008, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Randol Easton officiating. A private burial will take place on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Merom Cemetery in Merom, Indiana.
