Obituary

Andrew R.'Bud' Murdock, 87, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Linton, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011, at Northwest Manor in Indianapolis. He was born on October 20, 1923, in Linton, Indiana, to Andrew Hunter and Margaret Rosette (Jarman) Murdock.

Bud served in the US Army during WWII, Korea and Vietnam War. He retired from the US Army after 22 years of service and he received one Bronze Star during his enlistment. Bud also worked for the Linton Police Department as a Dispatcher for several years, retiring in 1994. He was a 50 year member of Ft. Knox Masonic Lodge #919 F & AM, KY; Past Commander of the American Legion Post #22 of Linton; Moose Lodge and the VFW of Linton

Survivors include one adopted son, Shane Murdock; two sisters, Margaret Richards of Linton and Barbara Ellen (John) Sheffler of Sullivan, IN.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Legion Post #22 of Linton with envelopes available at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery with full Military Rites.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Thursday.
