Anna Maye (Burton) Higginbotham, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2017 at University Park Care Center in Pueblo, Colorado. Born Anna Maye Grubb, the second of six children, she arrived in this world on January 31, 1929 to Norman and Gladys Grubb of Cunard, West Virginia.  Her father was a coal miner and her mother was a traditional housewife. Anna Maye married twice during her lifetime, first to Arthur Manuel Burton of Nuttleburg, West Virginia and later, following Arthur's death on New Year's Eve, 1986, to Donald Ray Higginbotham of Kansas City, Kansas. Sadly Don, too, died in late 2013.

Anna Maye was also preceded in death by: her father, Norman, her mother, Gladys; and siblings, Hurschell David Grubb, Billy James Grubb, Raymond Bobby Grubb, Lula Belle (Grubb) Mikel, and Donald Gene Lanham.

Survivors include: her daughters, Deanna Marie Handcock, Freda Louise Schmeichel, Carolyn Sue Burgess; her son, Arthur Manuel Burton Jr.; a brother, Norman "Scotty" Grubb; step-sister, Brenda Lanham; half-sisters, Gazelle Gaye Tanner and Angela Faye Pence; step-sons, Scott Higginbotham, Michael Higginbotham and Travis Higginbotham; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and fifteen great-great-grandchildren.

The viewing for Anna Maye will be held at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton on Saturday, August 26th from 1:00 – 4:00 PM, immediately followed by the funeral service at 4:00 PM.

The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
