Obituary

Anna Louise Pirtle, 95, went to be with her Lord on July 5, 2013. She was at home, surrounded by her family, the people she laughed with, lived for, and loved.

Born on July 27, 1917, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Lucy Stevenson Bailey. She became the wife of Lloyd Pirtle on November 15, 1936.

Anna was a member of the Dugger Church of Christ and enjoyed attending services with her church family. She was a 1935 graduate of Union High School.
She served as the Dugger Town Clerk for twenty-two years and as the Sullivan County Assessor for twelve years. Anna continued to work in the Assessor's office until her retirement at the age of 92. She was a member of the Sullivan County Democrat Club. She was a loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include two sons: Billy (Susy) Pirtle and Kenny Pirtle (Nancy Hardesty); two daughters: Betty (Steve) Horne and Vicki Talpas, all of Dugger; seven grandchildren: Mark (Belinda) Pirtle, Stephanie (Scott) Kinnett, Lisa Day, Tammy Pirtle (Jimmy Pearison), Todd (Crissy) Talpas, Marni (Mike) Brown and Holly (Mike) Gamble; Seventeen Great-grandchildren: Justin (Jessica) Day, Kylee (Jeremy) Knoepfle, Jordan (Kristin) Dudley, Trenton (Rachel) Dudley, Seth Kinnett, MaKaylee Pirtle, Michael (Rachael) Talpas, Tyler Talpas, Dylan Day, Kaleb Pirtle, Taylor Pigg, Chelsey Day, Katelyn Day, Jalen Pigg, Japheth Gamble, Baylee Gamble and Bella Gamble; Five Great-Great Grandchildren: Brooke Dudley, Isabella Dudley, Kaiden Knoepfle, Jaci Day and grandson Knoepfle (due in August); one sister, Norma Carr of Dugger, One sister-in-law, Dorothy Templeton of Sullivan and several nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lloyd, her infant son, Lloyd Densmore, her brother, Paul and her infant sister, Pauline.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 10 at 2:00 PM at the Anderson-Poindexter Dugger Chapel with Pastor Nick Moore and Brother Buford Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Dugger Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service on Wednesday.

The family has requested that memorial contributions may be made to the Dugger Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
