Avonell (Roach) Sparks, 80, of Linton, passed away on Sat., Oct. 26, 2013, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton, IN. She was born in Midland, IN, on Feb. 17, 1933, to Lloyd & Laura Lois (Beaty) Roach. Avonell married Vernon L. Sparks on May 11, 1955.

Avonell was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church. She worked at the Linton-Stockton School Corporation for many years and retired from that position.

Surviving family members include a son, Clint (Rachel) Sparks of Jasonville; a daughter, Connie (Dennis) Johnson of Linton; grandchildren: Michael Johnson, Mathew (Tonia) Johnson, and Tyler (Bree) Sparks; great-grandchildren: Audrey and Rhett: a brother, Kenneth (Ruby) Roach of Linton: and a sister, Carolyn Sue (Jim) Griffith of Center Point, IN.

Avonell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vernon; grandchildren, David, Justin, and Jalynn Marie.

Contributions in memory of Avonell may be made to the Glenburn Alzheimer's Unit or the Olive Branch Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held on Tues., Oct. 29, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with the Rev. Dan Kemp officiating. Interment will follow at the Morris Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel on Mon., Oct. 28, 2013, from 4 PM to 8 PM and from 9 AM until the hour of service on Tues., Oct. 29.
