Barbara A. Shanklin, 75, of Linton, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2008, at St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis. She was born on June 23, 1933, in Long Island, NY, to Hiram Lewis and Ethel Ardella (Stahl) Bevan. She married William E. Shanklin, Sr. on December 7, 1952 and they had five children.

Barbara was a homemaker. She was a member of the Linton First Baptist Church, China Burma India, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority (55 year member), American Legion Post #22 Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Bowling Association of Indiana.

Survivors include her two sons, Mickie (Anne) Shanklin of New Jersey and William Shanklin, Jr. of Linton; one daughter, Keiko Lorraine (Ray) Torgersen of Chugiak, AK and special sister-in-law, Juanita 'Wad' Fulkerson of Linton. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a large extended family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill Shanklin, Sr., on May 12, 1995, one daughter, Margaret Rosita Shanklin in September 1973, one son, Thomas 'T. R.' Richard Shanklin on November 21, 1995, two sisters, Lois Bevan and Alice Bevan.

Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Thursday, December 18, 2008. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 18, 2008, with Rev. David Tyra officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield.
