Barbara Ellen Sheffler, 89, of Huntington, IN, passed from this life at Parkview Hospital in Huntington, IN, on Monday, February 27, 2017.  She was born in Linton, Indiana on January 15, 1928, to Andrew Hunter and Margaret Rosette (Jarman) Murdock. She married John W. Sheffler on October 26, 1946.

Barbara was a member of the Dugger Church of Christ and the Danville Church of Christ. She was employed at Indiana Bell and then AT&T for 21 years before retiring in May 1989.

Survivors include: three sons, John K. (Annette Peterson) Sheffler of FL, Daniel A. (Julie) Sheffler of TN, and Brian S. (Lorraine) Sheffler of Indianapolis; a daughter, Jane (Jeffrey) Witt of Huntington, and daughter-in-law, Esther Sheffler of Linton; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, John W. Sheffler on February 23, 2017; a son, SPC William Frederick Sheffler; two sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton.  Barbara will be laid to rest in the Dugger Cemetery in Dugger, IN.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017, and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.
