Bernice Jerrels, 96, of Linton, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. She was born on June 23, 1914, in Newberry, IN, to Wm. Joseph and Nora (Rusher) Sipes. Bernice married Thomas Jerrels, Jr. on March 10, 1933.

Bernice owned/operated Jerrels Hair Fashion for 15 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, 50 year member of Order Eastern Star and Royal Neighbor in Newberry.

Survivors include two sons; Robert E. (Ellen) Jerrels of Bloomfield, Richard D. (Sheila) Jerrels of Linton; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Thomas Jerrels, Jr. (July 15, 1978), four sisters and one brother.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 18, 2011, with Nyle Riegle officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday.
