Betty L. Mathena, 83, of Linton, IN, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Linton Nursing and Rehab Facility. She was born on December 16, 1929, to Emmanuel and Lorene (Murphy) Hagerty. On June 6, 1947, Betty married James E. Mathena and they adopted two children.

Betty worked as a custodian at Linton-Stockton Schools, was a Childcare Provider and Homemaker before retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Linton Assembly of God Church and served as the Head of the Nursery Department.

Survivors include: one son, Dennis Mathena of Linton, IN; one daughter, Becky (Derrick) Jackson of Linton, IN; grandchildren, Tishia, Brett and Dayne Mathena, Alishia and Ericka Jackson; one great grandson: Boston Soncrant; and one sister: Margaret Gross of Piedmont, SC.

Betty was preceded in death by: her husband, James E. Mathena; her parents; one brother, Bernard Hagerty and two sisters, Mary Snyder and Helen Wall.

The family has requested those who wish may give a memorial contribution to the Linton Assembly of God Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton at 11:00 AM, with Rev. David Atkins officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 15, 2013 and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Saturday.
