Betty E. Tincher, 92, of Linton, Indiana, passed away with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Greene County General Hospital in Linton. She was born on March 26, 1922 in Greene County, Indiana to Frank and Nancy (Stanton) Jerrels. Betty became the wife of Fred E. Tincher on June 12, 1938.
Betty was a member of the Faith Community Church in Dugger, a 50 year member of both the American Legion Post #22 Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #140. She was employed at the General Electric Linton Plant and RCA in Bloomington before retiring in 1969.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carole Brewer of Linton; three grandchildren, Jim (Saudra) Mattox and Doug (Denise) Mattox, both of Indianapolis and Debbie (Joe) Whitehead of Linton; five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and son-in-law, Joe Mattox of Loogootee.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Tincher, daughter Kay Mattox, four brothers, five sisters and son-in-law Jack Brewer.
For those who wish, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or the Faith Community Church. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 6:30 PM on Friday, April 11 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Pastor Shawn Farris officiating. Interment will be held at the Stafford Cemetery at a later date.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 11 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
The family has entrusted the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with these arrangements.
