Billy Joe Baize, 74, of Linton, IN, was surrounded by family as he passed peacefully from this life into the hands of his Eternal Father in Heaven on Saturday morning, March 5, 2016. He was a life-long resident of Linton, born March 15, 1941, to Leslie L. and Dovie P. (Hamlin) Baize. On June 11, 1960, Bill took Sarah C. "Sally" Ferree to be his wedded wife.
Bill graduated from the Linton High School in the class of 1959. He was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church and, also, attended the Providence Baptist Church. He worked as an Electrical Planner & Estimator at Crane Naval Weapons Support Center, retiring in 1996. Bill enjoyed hunting and was an avid deer hunter. He, also, loved his rose gardens, fishing, reading and golfing. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend, who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include: his wife, Sarah C. "Sally" Baize, one son, Bill Jr. (Connie) Baize of Linton; one daughter, Penny (Bradley) Freeze of Farmersburg, IN; grandchildren, Eric Baize and Brooke (Chris) Davies; a sister, Delores Mayfield-Stuppy of Linton; two brothers, Winford (June) Baize of Mishawaka, IN, and Donnie (Faye) Baize of Dugger, IN.
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents; 2 brothers, George Dewayne (an infant) and Robert Baize; and one sister, Delema Bedwell.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Wed., March 9, 2016, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, with Pastors Darren McDonald and Tim Ferree officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in the Linton Fairview Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel on Tues., March 8, 2016, and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Wednesday.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Special Care Unit at Glenburn Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
