Bobby L. Hardisty, 77, of Linton, IN, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton, IN. He was born in Linton, IN, on April 1, 1935, to Russell and Alice E. (Spurgeon) Hardisty. On February 16, 1958 he married Gloria D. (Brown).
Bobby worked as a coal miner for Peabody Coal Company. He went on to retire in 1997 after 26 years of service. Bobby was a member of the UMWA and the Pleasantville United Methodist Church. His hobbies include woodworking, fishing, carpentery, spending time with family and attending his grandchildrens sporting events. He was one of the driving forces and was responsible for the construction of the LHS band stand.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Hardisty; daughters, Pam (Chip) Sweet of Jasonville, Dayna (Rob) Firestone of Linton and D'Lee (Darren) Sipes of Bloomfield; Brother, Jerry (Janet) Hardisty of Linton; Sister, Wilma (Kenny) Hamilton of Linton; and nine grandchildren, Brandon Firestone and Fiance' Meredith Beasley, Josh Sweet, Kelsey (Jarrod) Jones, Abby Sweet, Reid Firestone, Luke Sweet, Evan Sipes, Mariah Sweet and Grant Sipes.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Pleasantville United Methodist Church and the Glenburn's Alzheimer's Memory Garden, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the funeral home with Revs. Kenneth Adam and Dwight Gould officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN.
Visitation will be Monday, January 7, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, IN and on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 9:00 AM until the hour of service.
The Hardisty family has entrusted Anderson-Poindexter with the funeral arrangements.
