Carl E. 'Gene' Weaver, 88, of Sullivan, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008, in Sullivan, IN, at the Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born in Linton, IN, on November 7, 1919, to Earl Ervin and Mary Alice (Miller) Weaver. Carl married Thelma R. Fordyce on December 26, 1939.

Carl had been a maintenance supervisor at the Breed Power Plant and retired in 1981. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, IN, (Life Member) and the Sullivan Masonic Lodge F & AM (50 Year Member).

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Jean Bedwell of Speedway, IN, and Marsha Jo Boles of Sullivan, IN, four sisters: Barbara Harris of South Bend, IN, Violet Roberts, Betty Hale, and Irene Stephens all of Linton, IN. Also surviving are two grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers: Ervin, Irwin, Robert, and Ronnie, and four sisters: Dorothy, Caroline, Annie Louise, and Leota.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Dugger Chapel Wednesday, May 21, 2008, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Masonic Memorial Service taking place at 7:00 PM. Calling hours will resume Thursday morning, May 22, 2008, at 10:00 AM and continue until the hour of service. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 22, 2008, with Scott Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, Indiana.
