Daniel G. Sharp, 90, of rural Linton, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born on October 15, 1918, in Vincennes, Indiana, to George W. and Lola D. (Keller) Sharp. On August 26, 1968, he married Ellen F. Robinson.
Daniel served in the US Army during WWII. He worked on the railroad for a period of time and then opened Sharp's TV & Repair Service, which he owned and operated for many years. In later years, Daniel took a job with NWSC Crane and remained at this job until his retirement. Daniel was a member of the First Church of God and the Frank Courtney American Legion Post #22 in Linton.
Survivors include two step-daughters: Marsha (Jerald) Elliott of Camby, IN, and Shirley Roberts of Madisonville, KY; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Hayes of Fillmore, IN, 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two nephews: Dave Scott of Farmersburg, IN, Frank Walraven of Indianapolis, IN, and a niece, Mary Beth Scott of Farmersburg, IN.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ellen (Oct. 17, 2005), one step-son, Samuel L. Hayes and two sisters: Ruth Walraven and Florence Scott.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, November 2, 2008, and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Monday. The funeral service will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 4, 2008, at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel with Rev. John Catchem officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN, with Military Graveside Rites given by American Legion Post #22.
