Darwin A. Denman, 62, of Linton, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born March 18, 1948, to Dale R. and Bernice Marie (Sowka) Denman in Chicago, IL. On February 15, 1992, he married Rebecca Ann Dicken.
Darwin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during the Vietnam War as a SeaBee. He was a welder and pipe fitter, retiring in 2010. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Local 157, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #22 and Worthington VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Becky (Dicken) Denman of Linton; his mother, Bernice Denman of Linton; one son, Shane M. Denman of Linton; one granddaughter, Shaylyn A. Denman of Linton; one brother, Ralph (Jeannine) Denman of Dugger; three sisters, Bette (Jim) Meng, Sharon (Jeff) Sparks both of Linton, and Barbara Utley of Chicago, IL; one sister-in-law, Tina Sluder; and one brother-in-law, Bob Dicken. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Whittney Huff and Andrea Dicken.
Darwin was preceded in death by his father, Dale R. Denman and his twin brother, Dale A. Denman, Sr.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Friday. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 25, 2011 with Archie Ellett officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with Military Graveside Rites given by American Legion Post #22.
