David Arthur Clayton, 81, of Jasonville, died on March 24, 2010, at Methodist Hospital with his wife and son at his side. He was born January 10, 1929, in Linton, IN, to Guy J. and Opal A. (Fines) Clayton. He was united in marriage with Barbara J. (Bolton) on August 28, 1954.
David served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked at NSWC Crane as a painter for several years and retired in 1984. David was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Linton and he also attended the Shakamak Community Church. His hobbies included painting and he truly enjoyed helping others.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Clayton, a son Jerrit L. (Melinda) Clayton of Zionsville, a grandson David "Andy" (Sheri) Clayton of Plainfield, and two great grandchildren Bailey Suzanne and David Jerrit. Also surviving are 2 sisters: Rose Ballard of Linton, and Mae (Kenneth) Nocus of Bloomfield, and one brother James Clayton of Grand Rapids, MI.
David was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Wilburn D. Clayton and his beloved dog Bell.
For those who wish to make memorial contributions, the family has named the Greene County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be held Monday, March 29, 2010, at the Shakamak Community Church in Jasonville, IN, at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Chris McKinney officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with Rev. Joe Faust officiating and full Military Graveside Rites.
Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 28, 2010, and continue on Monday, March 28, 2010, at the Shakamak Community Church from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
