Don Harold Shake, 88, of Sandborn, IN passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at his residence in Sandborn, IN. He was born in Knox Co., on March 11, 1921 to Floyd and Zella (Lawyer) Shake. Don married Dorothea R. (Spanger) Shake on May 24, 1947.

Don was a retired farmer and livestock trucker. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 1365th Military Police Co. Aviation in the CBI Theater. Don was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #192 and Knights of Pythias for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his children; son, David B. Shake of Sandborn, IN, daughter, Deanna (Alan) R. Shake Callison of Elnora, IN. He had four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Don is also survived by one brother, Ted J. Shake of Warren, IN.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Fred W. Shake and his wife, Dorothea.

Friends may call at Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia, IN from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 27, 2009, and from 9:00 AM until the hour of services on Saturday, November 28, 2009.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dana Coverstone and Pastor Peter Bortz officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Westphalia, IN.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia, IN. Envelopes will be available at the church.
