Donald Eugene Harper, 86, of Linton, IN, passed from this life on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at home, with family by his side. He was born on July 5, 1931, in Switz City, IN, to Ralph and Verna (Dove) Harper. He married his wife, Judy (Boles) Harper on July 12, 1991.
Don served in the US Army and, later, worked as a Truck Driver, Carpenter, and Coal Miner. He was a member of the Linton Moose Lodge #1434, the Teamsters Union, the United Mine Workers, and the American Legion.
Survivors include: his wife, Judy Harper; four children: Steve Harper of Dugger, Donna (George) Ferree, and Donald Gibson, both of Linton, and Cathey (Mike) Talpas of Jasonville; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Max E. Harper of Marion, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Debra Jean Harper; and sisters, Yvonne Rose Edmondson and Cathy Dowers.
A graveside service for family and friends is scheduled at 2:30 PM on Monday, August 7, 2017, at the Switz City Cemetery with Pastor Timothy Ferree officiating.
Family members only are calling at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the graveside service. Military Honors will be given immediately following this gathering.
