Dorine Aynes Whitman, 80, of Lyons, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Glenburn Nursing Home. She was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina on November 28, 1936 to Joshua W. and Lydia Catherine (Johnson) Aynes. She married William P. Whitman in 1973.
Dorine was an LPN at different doctor's offices and then home health care for close to 25 years. Dorine was a member of the Lyons United Methodist Church, Past-President of the United Methodist Women of Lyons, Past Matron, Newberry Eastern Star Chapter #198, American Legion Post #479, and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include: two sons, John (Nicole) McLaughlin of Sullivan and Richard McLaughlin of Kearney, NE; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, James R. (Sue) Aynes of Newberry; sister, Kathy (Fred) Aynes Davis of Linton; brother-in-law, Donnie Paul Lehman of Linton and the father of her sons, John McLaughlin of Brazil.
Dorine was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, William P. Whitman; infant son, Michael McLaughlin and sister, Shelba Aynes Lehman.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Rose Sparks and Rev. Don Reed officiating. Dorine will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 24 and from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, at the funeral home. An Eastern Star memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
