Dorothy Lorene (Elgan) Rose, 83, of Linton, IN, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sandborn on March 19, 1928, to Jesse R. and Mary E. (McKee) Elgan. Dorothy was married to William Donald Rose on July 28, 1951; he preceded her on February 7, 1984.
Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Linton. She was a homemaker and her greatest joy was her family, she loved gathering them together. She was admired and cherished by family and friends. Dorothy's hobbies included
sewing, card clubs and she was an avid traveler. She had visited all 50 states and many countries outside the continental United States.
Survivors include one daughter: Donetta (Robert) Richardson of West Terre Haute, IN; two sons, Michael (Lynn) Rose of Linton, IN and Roger (Teresa) Rose of Jasonville, IN; five grandchildren, Jessica (Derek) McKee, Steven (Laura) Rose, Rodney (Sharon) Rose, Rebecca (Adam) Thomas and Kacey (Edward) Allen; ten great-grand children and one sister, Etta Louise (Herman) Snyder of Vincennes, IN, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, one sister, Betty Elgan and one great-grand daughter Jeana Marie Rose.
The family has requested that, for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Linton United Methodist Church, American Lung Association or a charity of their choice.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, IN, with Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 8, 2012 and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Friday.
