Dorothy B. Royer, 91, of Linton, Indiana, passed away with her loving family by her side on Thursday, January 14, 2016. She was born on September 28, 1924 at Nine Mile in Greene County, Indiana to John W. and Ethel (Smith) Blanton. Dorothy married Bobbie Lee Lynn on October 2, 1944 and after his passing, she married Don Edward Royer on February 15, 1983.
Dorothy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, two Missions in the Washington, DC Temple, one in the St. Louis Temple and one in the Philippines. She was an assembly worker (Rosie the Riveter) in Connersville during WWII and then worked as a florist for Wolford Flower Shop, and for Jimmie K. Wright and IGA before retiring in 1980. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and playing the organ. She loved being with her children and most of all, Dorothy loved the Lord.
Survivors include: two daughters, Diana (Dan) Lahmann of Linton and Barbara Ann Bland of Bloomington; one son, Robert Alan (Connie) Lynn of Riley; eighteen grandchildren; fifty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents; her two husbands, Bobbie Lee Lynn and Don Edward Royer; a son, Tommy Lee Lynn (age 8) on December 28, 1953; five sisters, Cecil Blanton, Mable Blanton, Stella Kates, Edna Moyer and Iva Hart.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, January 18, 2016 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Bro. Dan Lahmann officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Bohley Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, January 17 and from 12:00 noon until the hour of service on Monday.
The family has requested that memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dorothy to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
