Dorrel E. Johnson, Jr., 79, of Terre Haute, IN passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born in Linton, IN, on August 28, 1931 to Dorrel E. Johnson, Sr. and Hazel Marie (Cunningham). Dorrel married Barbara A. (Horrall) on October 2, 1953.

Dorrel was a self employed carpenter. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post #139 and the VFW Post #7118 in Linton.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. Johnson; son, Gary 'Chick' Johnson of Linton, two daughters, Yvonne Johnson of North Terre Haute, Pamela Johnson of Sullivan; four grandchildren, April Johnson, Gary 'Bubba' Johnson, Travis Snapp, Falisha Hauck and one great-grandchild, Alexander Johnson. Dorrel is also survived by two brothers, Donald Johnson of CA, Robert Johnson of Lyons; three sisters, Mary Cathryn Foster, Audrey Johnson and Betty Jean Cox, all of Linton.

Dorrel was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Joetta Johnson.

Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, IN from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, and from 9:00 AM until the hour of services on Thursday, May 26, 2011.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jack Barnard officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Farmersburg, IN with full Military Rites.
