Duel C. Phelps, 95, of Linton, Indiana, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012 at Greene County General Hospital, in Linton. He was born July 9, 1917; to Frank M. and Banion (Dockery) Phelps. Duel married LuLavena "Lula" Weaver on January 13, 1937.

Duel was a member of the 12th Street Church of God in Linton. He was employed with the Crane Naval Weapons Support Center where he was a maintenance operator with 30 years of service. Duel retired from Crane in October of 1973. He was a member of the AFGE, American Federation of Government Employees. Duel enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching baseball.

Survivors include: one son, Eugene (Debra) Phelps of Elkhart, IN; two daughters, Donetta (Ted) Cullison of Linton and Betrice (Floyd) Lents of Shoals, IN; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and twenty-six great great-grandchildren.

Duel was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lula and one son, Billy Ray.

The family has requested memorial contributions to be made to the 12th Street Church of God. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Bill Oricks and Rev. Bob Phelps officiating. Calling will be Friday, December 28, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at the Marco Cemetery with full military honors.
