Effie Belle Smiley, 77, of Linton, Indiana passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was born on September 23, 1936 in Linton, Indiana to William Henry 'Bill' and Clara Belle (Cooksey) Mowery. Effie became the wife of Dr. Bob E. Smiley on August 17, 1956.

Effie was a homemaker and was a member of the Linton First Christian Church and the Marco Class of 1955.

Survivors include: her husband, Bob; two sons, Brent Smiley of Pierceton and Bryan Smiley of Fishers; three grandchildren, Timothy Smiley of Bloomington, Shelby Smiley and Garrett Smiley of Warsaw, IN; two brothers, Elmer (Linda) Mowery of Worthington and Carroll Ray (Gloria) Mowery of Punta Gorda, FL; four sisters, Ina Cardinal of Bruceville, Marcella (Robert) McDonald of Linton, Ethel (George) Griffith of Punta Gorda, FL and Carolyn White (Tim) Guesman of Punta Gorda, FL.

Effie was preceded in death by: her parents; one son, Steve Eric Smiley; three brothers, William 'Ceph' Cephors, James and Franklin Mowery; four sisters, Helen Acord, Edna Rhoten, Martha Mae Summerville and Mary Jane Yates.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Linton First Christian Church with Warren Shake officiating. Interment will follow in Stafford Cemetery at Sandborn.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 11 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton and from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at the Linton First Christian Church.

The family has entrusted the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with all arrangements.
