Elmer H. Pigg, 87, of Portage, IN, formerly of Linton, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at his residence. He was born on February 14, 1923, in Jericho, Sullivan County, Indiana, to George Dewey and Carrie Irene (Perigo) Pigg. ElmerA's 1st wife, Nellie (Kemper) and 2nd wife, Mazie Ellen (Newcome) both precede him in death. His third wife, Martha (Ervin) survives.
Elmer served in the US Army during WWII. He was a steelworker with Youngstown LTV for 33 years until retirement in 1980. Elmer attended the South Linton Church of God.
Survivors include ElmerA's wife, Martha Pigg, of Sandborn; children: Louis Pigg of OR; Cathy D. Bevil of Portage, IN; Dianna Grostuck of Powell, TN; Harold T. (Candace) Pigg of Griffith, IN; Michael D. Pigg of Linton, IN; Dennis J. (Pam) Pigg of Angola, IN and Terry J. (Valerie) Pigg of Linton, IN. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife Nellie, 2nd wife Mazie and three sons, Terry Wayne Pigg, Edward J. Westerfield and David E. Perigo.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 11:00 AM with Rev. Russell Black officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery with full Military Rites.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 25, 2010, and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Friday, March 26, 2010.
