Elra E.'Bud' Pittman, 88 of Linton, Indiana, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 25, 2014. He was born on July 19, 1926 in Knox County, Indiana to Elra and Luetta (Carter) Pittman. Bud married Sharon L. Cleveland on August 23, 1947.
Bud was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII and then worked as an Equipment Operator Engineer for McMahon Construction, D & D Bituminous and AM Risher until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Linton Assembly of God Church, Operating Engineers Local 841, Sandborn Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite 33rd Degree, RV Volunteers and was a Life member of the Worthington VFW. Family and friends would attest to the fact that Bud loved life. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include: three sons, Byron (Nancy) Pittman of Sandborn, Curt (Terry) Pittman of Linton and Gale (Jeannette) Pittman of Lyons; one daughter, Roxie (Larry) Wertenberger of Benton, AR; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Hilda Carmichael of Lyons and several nieces and nephews.
Bud was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Sharon Pittman; grandson, Jeromy Pittman; brother, Beryl Pittman and two sisters, Mary Ensor and Geraldine Fox.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Linton Assembly of God Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Funeral services celebrating Bud's life are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Arlice Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Linton with full military honors by the Lyons American Legion Post.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, December 29 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.
