Emogene Burks, 90, of Linton, IN, passed from this life on Sat., Feb. 27, 2016, at Glenburn Home. She was born on Jan. 25, 1926, in Linton, IN, to George Harrison and Maude Elsie (Johnson) Wright. She married David Lee Sweeney, Sr. early in life and he was involved in a fatal automobile accident at a young age. Later in life, Emogene met and married Hubert L. Burks.
Emogene was a member of the Dugger First Baptist Church, where she held the position of a song leader and was, also, a member of the Wabash Valley Art Guild. For 26 years, she worked at A & P Grocery Stores and then as an Instrument Technician at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
Survivors include: two sons: Steven G. Sweeney of Altamonte Springs, FL and David Lee Sweeney Jr. of Sanford, FL; two stepsons: Randall (Rita) Burks and Myron Burks, both of Dugger, IN; and a step-daughter, Morgan Burks. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Family members who precede in death are: her parents, her 1st husband, David Lee Sweeney, Sr., her 2nd husband, Hubert L. Burks, 4 sisters and 1 brother.
There are no funeral services scheduled and Imogene will be laid to rest in the Dugger Cemetery at a later date.
