Enid Rose Martin Apple, 85, of Odon, Indiana, formerly of Sandborn, went to Heaven peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, May 9, 2016 in Odon. She was born on May 10, 1930 in Sullivan County, Indiana to Charles Miles and Merlie Mae (Cooksey) Trent. She married Robert V. Martin on December 18, 1948 and later married Glen G. Apple on January 26, 2013.
Rose was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, Sandborn Ladies' Card Club and Greene County General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She retired in 1992 with 20 years of service in the Dietary Department at Greene County General Hospital.
Survivors include: her husband, Glen G. Apple of Sandborn; one daughter, Dana (Tom) Jeffers of Terre Haute; two sons, Tony (Cindy) Martin of Worthington and JD (Flo) Martin of Loogootee; step-daughter, Cindy (Mark) Malone of Bruceville; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by: her parents; her first husband of 60 years, Robert Martin; two daughters, Leah Jo Hartsburg and Melinda 'Mindy' Johnson; three brothers and two sisters.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 13, 2016 at the St. Peter Catholic Church in Linton with Rev. Joseph F. Erbacher officiating. Rose will be laid to rest in the Sandborn Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 12 and from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Friday, May 13. A Rosary Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 PM on Thursday.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Ann's Altar Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
