Forrestrose 'Rosie' Griffith, 90, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor in Sullivan, Indiana. She was born on May 3, 1926 in Linton, Indiana to Hollis and Etta (Elliott) Williams. She was married to Dewey 'Duke' Griffith on August 16, 1947.
Rosie was a member of the BPO Elks #866 and Phoenix BPO Elks #335. She worked as a secretary for the Murphy School District, and the Arizona Republic and Gazette Newspaper. Rosie was a graduate of Marco High School and was an avid golfer and a member of various golf leagues.
Survivors include: a nephew, Johnnie (Ruth) Kittrell of Phoenix, AZ; a niece, Carolene Bledsoe of Lavaca, AR; several great nieces and nephews; special friends and neighbors, Stephanie Sanders of Sullivan, Bobby (Sharon) Heacox and Carol (Malcolm) Ward, both of Linton.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dewey 'Duke' Griffith.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Rosie will be laid to rest in the Stafford Cemetery in Sandborn.
Family and friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 9 at the funeral home.
