George H. Griffith, Sr., 76, of Linton, Indiana, passed away with his loving family at his side, on Friday, September 1, 2017 at Bloomington, Indiana. He was born on February 8, 1941 in Langeloth, Pennsylvania to Henry P. and Lenora Mae (Rudy) Griffith. George married his sweetie, Ethel (Mowery) McDonald Griffith on December 23, 2012.
George attended Lincoln Christian Church. He retired in 1996 from Arco Chemical Co. with 30 years of service. George enjoyed fishing, playing cards and traveling, especially to the mountains of Gatlinburg and to his beloved P-A, as he referred to it. He never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Survivors include: his wife, Ethel McDonald Griffith; two sons, Oscar (Sophia) Griffith of Murphy, NC and George H. (Phyllis) Griffith, Jr. of Winter Haven, FL; step-son, Brad (Susan) McDonald of Newberry; step-daughters, Kim (Bob) Ross of Jasonville, Kris (Ed) Pruett of Surprise, AZ, Karla (Bill) English of Dugger and Katrina (Tony) Parrish of Boonville; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen step-grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; nineteen step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry (Johanna) Griffith of Punta Gorda, FL; three sisters, Lenora Wilkerson of Hookstown, PA, Carol (George) Froats of Bulger, PA and Patricia (Jerry) Johnson of Punta Gorda, FL; special cousin, Jimmy (Loretta) Griffith of Burgettstown, PA.
George was preceded in death by his parents.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Pastor Cliff Gano officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 5 and from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
