Obituary

Harley Craft Stremming, 93, of Martinsville, Indiana, formerly of Westphalia, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Mooresville, Indiana. He was born on December 31, 1921 in Switz City, Indiana to Fred and Esther Martha (Due) Stremming. Harley married his sweetheart, Gertrude 'Trudy' Telligman on March 17, 1950.


Harley was a US Army Air Force WWII Veteran having served as an airplane mechanic with the 14th Combat Cargo Squadron. He was a member of the Bicknell VFW since June 1947, the Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia and was active in the Martinsville Senior Citizens Center. Harley worked on road construction with the Rogers Group in Vincennes before he retired in 1988.


Survivors include: one son, H. Mark (Rhonda) Stremming of Martinsville, IN; four grandchildren, Brian (Angela) Stremming, Sara (Dustin) Smith, Jessica (Jay) Washington and Bethany (Kevin) Litz; seven great-grandchildren, Joseph and Maria Stremming, Ethan, Reagan, Kyleigh and Wyatt Smith and Mark S. Washington and one sister, Gladys Boling.


Harley was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Trudy Stremming; one sister, Mary Hindman and two brothers, Richard and Kenneth Stremming.


Funeral services will be held at the Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bryan Taylor officiating. Interment with full military rites is scheduled for Saturday, February 7 at 2:00 PM in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery.


Family and Friends may call at the church from 9:30 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM on Friday.


The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Martinsville Senior Citizens Center, 1369 Blue Bluff Road, Martinsville, IN 46151 in memory of Harley. Envelopes will be available at the church.
