Harold W. 'Mike' Brinson, 73, of Linton, went to be with his Lord on July 23, 2013. He was born on July 1, 1940 in Lagro, Indiana to Wayne and Marie (Shorter) Brinson. He married Sharon S. 'Susie' Carlton on May 24, 1961.
Mike was a US Navy Veteran. He retired in 1995 from the Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Linton, American Legion Post #22 (Past Commander) PUFL, Past 7th Dist. Commander, VFW Auxiliary Post #7118, Chaplain with Greene County Veteran's Council, Past Master Masonic Lodge #560 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Greene County Shriners and Past Exalted Ruler of Linton BPO Elks #866.
Surviving are: his wife, Susie; two sons, Rick (Lynn) Brinson and Michael (Rita) Brinson; four grandchildren, Richard (Amanda) Brinson, Karen Reed, Bryan and Beth Brinson, all of Linton; Great-grandchildren, Kolton and Cameron Reed, Ruby Brinson; two brothers, Robert (Shirley) Brinson, David (Margaret) Brinson of LaFontaine; two sisters, Helen Palmer of Wabash and Linda Tucker of Wabash and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Hugh 'Bud', Gary, Winston 'Pat' and three sisters, Wanda Siders, Mary Siders and Beverly Smith.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church of Linton. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26 at 11:00 AM at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Jim Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post #22.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, July 25 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM. Calling will continue on Friday from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.
