Obituary

Harry K. Baker, 88, of Linton, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Greene County General Hospital. Born to William and Dora (Allen) Baker on September 28, 1919, in Marco, Indiana. He married Elenor Minnie McDonald on December 6, 1941.

Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served during WWII. During his military career he was the recipient of five Combat Awards which include a Purple Heart and five Bronze Stars. He later worked as a truck driver for Detroit Edison for 30 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Frank Courtney American Legion Post #22, VFW 7118, and DAV Chapter #99.

Survivors include his daughters, Susan (Nick) Duytschaver of Linton, IN, and Linda (Jerry) Bandemer of Oscoda, MI, grandchildren: Malinda Rothe, Jerry Bandemer, Jr., Laura Northrop, Chuck, Robert, David and Dawn Skidmore, sisters, Phyllis Larabee of Canada and Alberta Moore of Port Huron, MI. He was also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and one sister.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Monday, April 21, 2008. Military honors to be conducted at 7:30 PM with the American Legion Post Chaplain Officiating. Interment will be at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East in Michigan at a later date.
